About Lauren Ray Hensey
Originally from Pennsylvania and Asheville, North Carolina, Ireland has been my home since 2001. After a brief one year stay in Paris I moved to the west coast of this island more than 15 years ago.
Yoga came into my life when I was a teenager in Asheville, NC in the Iyengar tradition. Later in my twenties I discovered Kundalini Yoga and following on I found Vinyasa Yoga in 1998. In May of 2000 I completed my training with Stephanie Keach of the Asheville Yoga Center, and have been teaching and training ever since. I have been blessed to study with prominent teachers such as Noah Maze, Deb Neubauer, Desiree Rumbaugh and many other respected yoga teachers.
As an Acupuncturist, I have found the effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM, coupled with the subtleness of its practice to be a compelling reason for its use in treating many of today’s most common complaints. My training through the The Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland has given me not only a firm theoretical but also practical base for treating patients. I’ve studied with the knowledgeable and experienced Chinese doctors Professor Jin Hui De, Dr Jidong Wu and Dr Meng Fanyi as well as visiting professors such as Debra Betts, a renowned midwife and acupuncturist. In October 2013 I travelled to Nanjing, China for further study and invaluable clinical experience. I recently completed an additional two year Professional Diploma in herbal studies, which provides not only an additional way of working with internal medical conditions, but in many cases offers a perfect partnership to acupuncture treatments. At present I am working in Strandhill, Co. Sligo.
